My Story
I received my giving key (blessed) from a dear friend when I decided to throw a celebrate life party. This party was in celebration of 20 years being cancer free. In 1995 I was expecting my 4th child and I was diagnosed with breast cancer at 33 years old and 3months pregnant.
The word blessed is the perfect word. I was truly blessed in so many ways. First of all the love and support from family and friends was amazing and then I was blessed with the best doctors. I underwent surgery and chemotherapy during this pregnancy, it was a miracle when my child arrived on January 23, 1996, a perfectly healthy baby. (Who knew that my baby and I would both be bald. ) I threw this party and called it "A celebrate life" party to honor and thank all those who helped me get through this rough time.
I also wanted to extend my support and love to those who were diagnosed after me. I wanted to remind people that their acts of kindness meant the world to me and that life is too short so we must celebrate life and know that we are blessed. It was a great celebration which brought many old friends back together again. So I am truly blessed to be alive and have my family and friends surrounding me. I am passing this key on today to two dear friends.
One is very and ill and his husband who is his caregiver. They are blessed to have each other (over 40 years together) and I am blessed to call them my friends. My hope is that they will be surrounded by the same love and support which I was blessed with and that they know how much they are both loved by so many. Thank you Denise for giving me this key as a reminder to always count my blessings and remember all of the people that were there for me. May you and your beautiful family continue to blessed.
