My Story
My name is Jacqueline Deffler. I was married to the love of my life, Roy Deffler for 18 wonderful and happy years. Actually, he died on March 23, 2018, 6 days shy of our 15 year anniversary. He was buried in South Florida's Veterans cemetery on our anniversary, March 29th.
The Cancer that he was in remission from, returned and took him so fast I could barely catch my breathe. I thought he would recover and be okay, but that did not happen. He tried so hard to stay with me. He didn't want to go and I didn't know what I could do to keep him with me.
I thought that God would see that he needed me and I needed him and then let him stay. But he took him. We were so happy together and so much in love. We met when we had both given up on relationships. He was handsome and charming and I was sassy and funny.
He thought I was beautiful. I never saw myself like that. I would get butterflies in my stomach just seeing him walk into a room. I miss him so much. I questioned my existence and a friend of mine said that maybe I was put here to love Roy and make him happy. Maybe I was brought into his life to show him what real love was and to be there for him and take care of him, through all his medical issues and the illness that finally took him.
I think he was brought into my life to love me like I needed to be loved and make me happy. I thank God for the years he gave me with my Roy. We had a great life together with beautiful memories. I just wanted a few more years. Roy was my soulmate and I can't wait to be with him again. We will be together again. Until then, I just take deep breathes to get me through the difficult times.
