I have
Received a Giving Key
With the word
STRENGTH
My Story
I received a giving key 8 years ago when I was preparing for an operation. My best friend picked the word “Strength” because she knew I was anxious about the outcome of the operation. The operation went well and I’ve had a hard time parting with the key because there have been so many times I’ve needed strength.
The strength to fight for accommodations for children and the education they deserve, the strength to show no fear when facing my fears, like kayaking in the ocean, so my children would grow up fearless. The strength to help my children when their hearts are broken for the first time or they lose their first job.
The strength to let them go and grow into capable adults and make their own mistakes. The strength to show them that somehow it will be okay. Today, I found the strength to give my key to a close friend who needs it more than me. She is battling ovarian cancer for the second time.
She wakes up every day with hope, love and strength for others, never thinking of herself. My hope is that the “Strength” I found also finds her, so she can continue this battle everyday for her family and for herself.
