I came across this website a few weeks ago, and was immediately interested. I have a heart for the homeless, and was so excited & inspired to read about your employment opportunities for those transitioning out of homelessness.
At first, I was a bit selfish about the necklace I wanted. Next month I'll be moving across the country, away from everyone and everything I know, to begin a new journey. I asked my mom to purchase a necklace that read Courage on it for me as a Christmas gift. I felt so selfish in doing so, but I loved the concept so much, I couldn't resist.
Fast forward a few weeks, when I received a Facebook message from a friend from church, asking if I had any extra clothes to give away to an 8th grade girl who just went into foster care. It's December 22nd, 3 days away from Christmas. It was too late for any angel tree gifts, so it was up to her foster family to provide any presents. I learned her name and that she was timid and wouldn't ask for anything she needed/wanted.
After compiling different items for her, I remembered the necklace. In that moment, I knew that necklace was never meant for me. God works in mysterious and amazing ways. It's an honor to be able to pass it on to her. Thank you for giving us both such an incredible gift.
