My beautiful 17 year old niece Skylar was going through some difficult times. I don't think she felt like she "fit in". When she was just a baby I had often thought of her as an "old soul" you could just feel the kindness and compassion inside of her when you looked in her eyes. She always made you feel good, when she was a little girl at daycare the teachers even nicknamed her "Saint Skylar."
Anyway while looking for a special gift for her I came across The Giving Keys. I bought her the LOVE key and gave it to her just this past July, I wanted her to know how much I loved her. She opened it and gave me one of those beautiful smiles and said, "She loves me!"- I said yes I do! I did not know that that day in July would be the last time I would hug her or see her. She passed away on the morning of August 12, 2015 at the tender age of 17. I tried searching the stories here to see if she ever came online and wrote anything, but haven't been successful. When I went to her wake which was an open casket and kneeled before this sweet soul I noticed that the love necklace I had given her was around her neck-I could not stop crying. When I asked her mother if she had been wearing it, she replied that it was kept by her bed on her night table. Fly high sweet girl-so many love you.
