August 14th 2013, is a date that will forever be engraved in my heart. This entire year has been one roller coaster after another but on that day, an old friend re-entered my life as a blessing and because of it, I will forever be changed.
On that day, as much as she may have needed me, I needed her just as much. I was feeling lost and without purpose in this life. The two of us were able to communicate better and more openly than I've ever communicated with anyone. Not one day has passed since that date that we haven't talked and shared something inspirational with each other.
I came across The Giving Keys' story on a blog I read and was immediately inspired. I KNEW that was exactly what she needed. August 14th wasn't just any day, it was the day she decided to be sober. And she couldn't have done it without support and faith in a higher power.
I purchased a "Faith" key for her as a reminder to not only have faith in the higher power but never to forget to have faith in herself and continue on this incredible journey she's leading in recovery. It's been just over 4 months and she's still going strong. She's an incredible person and I'm truly blessed to have her in my life.
I can't wait to hear when she's ready to part with her key, who she gives it to and why she gives it up.
